Classic first-person shooter set within an apocalyptic world

Blood 2: The Blood Group is set within a dark and post-apocalyptic world where a sinister organization has taken over society. Known simply as The Cabal, it is the job of the player to do battle with this evil empire and (hopefully) to emerge victorious. This game was originally released in 1998 and it has become a classic for those who are fans of action-packed first-person shooter excitement. Gore, surprises and a milieu of blood-thirsty enemies await.

Gameplay and Usability

Blood 2: The Blood Group offers intuitive user controls. Both the keyboard and a mousepad can be chosen depending upon individual preferences. Although this game is nearly 20 years old, it cannot be denied that the graphics are still quite impressive. With a truly retro feel, the platform can be an excellent addition to other franchises such as DOOM and Wolfenstein. As should be expected, the player will encounter a variety of weapons and upgrades throughout the game.

Other Benefits

Blood 2: The Blood Group is equipped with a 13-page manual for those who might not have played this version in the past. An audio-rich soundtrack, four different playable characters and an add-on package which contains extra levels are all included with this download.

PROS

  • An immersive and exciting classic first-person shooter
  • Blood 2: The Blood Group offers similar gameplay to applications such as Wolfenstein

CONS

  • Due to its release date some may be slightly disappointed with the graphics
  • The game could encounter issues when newer graphics drivers are updated
